World's Oldest Person Celebrates 115th Birthday, Obama Congratulates

The world’s oldest person celebrated her 115th birthday on Monday with music, cake and a letter of congratulation from US President Barack Obama. Gertrude Baines, who became the planet’s longest living human in January following the death of Portuguese woman, Maria de Jesus, also 115, marked her birthday at Los Angeles Western Convalescent Hospital.

Baines — who attributes her longevity to her religion and clean-living — attracted worldwide headlines last November when she became the oldest African-American to vote for Obama during the presidential election. She marked her latest milestone on Monday by declaring that she hopes to be around to vote for Obama again in 2012. Monday’s low-key ceremony saw a group of friends sing Happy Birthday to Baines before the reading of a proclamation from the Guinness Book of World Records acknowledging her as the world’s oldest person.

In an interview a while ago she told she spends most of her time "doing nothing but eating and sleeping." When CNN interviewed Baines two years ago, she was asked to explain why she thought she has lived so long. "God. Ask him. I took good care of myself, the way he wanted me to," Baines said.

Much of her long life was lived in Ohio where she worked as a "house mom" at a state university. She eventually divorced and traveled to Los Angeles, where she retired.

Firefox Displaying a Border on Top of Table. How to Hide that 1px Top Border on Table

Firefox is displaying a strange 1px border on top of table?

You want to hide that 1px border-top in table element in firefox?

I faced this problem a thousand times and searched for a solution but never found anything that worked. But I kept trying out myself and what I get to know was that firefox adds a 1px top-border on each table element no matter I use border="0" attribute in html or add border:none in css.

The solution I found was very simple. in your css file, just add the following anywhere. Better to add it on top because you might need this overridden in some cases so if you add it at the end of css, it will override the code where you needed that top borders.

Following is the code you need to enter in your css file.

How to Improve Thinking Skills in Kids? Games Can Help

There is no doubt about it, using computer games is a great way to encourage children to expand their realm of thinking. Your options for entertaining your child may seem numbered. Many people allow their children to spend quite a bit of time in front of the television. But, what good does that do? If you want them to learn something while they are zoned out, you are completely lost. But, if you flip on the computer, download a great game, you may actually be able to encourage them to learn more and you will encourage good thinking skills as well.

Thinking is not something that everyone can do well. Now, we are referring here to the thought process that goes along with solving problems. For many children, this is something they struggle with. Mom or Dad always takes care of the problems. If something isn't right, just call mom or dad. Even on the television, that is full of real life and imaginary "problems" that need to be solved, there is no encouragement for children to come up with the solution. What happens then? They just sit and watch and let someone else handle the problem.

Earthquakes, Tsunamis, Mudslides: Extreme Events - What Do They Mean?

In lieu of recent, tumultuous occurrences, people are more compelled than ever to discover the mystery of these modern-day, earth-changing events.

One day, Earth(1) is experiencing the fourth largest earthquake in a century - a 9.0 tectonics plate(2) shift(3) off the coast of Sumatra(4), the next day - Tsunami(5).

A Report(6) from NASA explains how the poles have permanently shifted by an entire inch. According to Dr. Benjamin Fong Chao, "...Any worldly event that involves the movement of mass affects the Earth's rotation, from seasonal weather down to driving a car." Per the findings of Doctors Chao and Gross, the North Pole(7) has shifted by an inch in the direction of 145 degree East Longitude. Based on their report too, was that Earth's oblateness(8) (gravity field) was also decreased by a small amount.

To translate into laymen's terms, the change in mass distribution(9) can effect long-term global climate changes(10)(11); thus, the El Nino/La Nina(12) effect is strengthened due to unusual mean sea level pressure(13).
