CES 2011 starts year of the tablet in Las Vegas as Apple remains home

The 2011 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) starting Thurs in LV is expected to be all about tablets. The usual suspects, such as smartphones and gaming devices will also make token appearances. But Consumer Electronics Show hype is calling 2011 the year of the tablet, even though the company that started it all--Apple, with its iPad, does not bother to appear.

How Apple can upstage Consumer Electronics Show 2011

CES 2011, based on previews proliferating on the web, will resemble CES 2010. There was a Microsoft windows tablet shown off at last year’s annual technology trade show. It never went anywhere though. Apple independently announced its iPad a few weeks later. Over 12 million iPads have sold since it went to stores in April. Many tablet manufacturers will be introducing devices to get attention as well after Consumer Electronics Show 2011 starts January 6. This is the day the Mac App Store will begin. It is starting up too. The CES 2011 might be upstaged by Steve Jobs though. Many think the iPad 2 could be introduced as well.

Getting hooked up with Apple

At CES 2011, several PC and mobile phone manufacturers want to try and get caught up to Apple. Samsung will feature its Galaxy tablet that it states has sold about 1 million units so far. There will be several tablet devices unveiled. They will be from ASUS, Acer, Toshiba, Dell, Motorola, Hewlett-Packard and Research in Motion (RIM). The success of Apple's iPad leads analysts to believe that the market potential for tablets will allow most of these players a modicum of success. Nobody knew that there would be a ton of cheap imitations of what Apple did accessible on the sector that are all attempting to be the cheapest while Apple doesn’t even have to compete.

Seeing much more at Consumer Electronics Show 2012

CES 2011 may be all about tablets; but smartphones will also make headlines with devices that continue to promise cable-caliber high speed internet connections that have been promised since Consumer Electronics Show 2010. Motorola, HTC and others will introduce new Android phones made for Verizon's 4G high-speed LTE network. Commands from owners could be answered by automobiles and household appliances as well which will be introduced with internet connected TVs.

I don't know about tablets, I haven't bought any this year but I did get myself a new laptop during the 2011 CES. I had a little bad luck though, because my laptop crashed after just about a month. I got it repaired and I use regcure ever since, it helps preventing future similar incidents. Anyways, I hope the tablets are not that fragile.

Sounds cool, I think I might buy an IPAD in 2011 eventually ;)
